Hello, my name is Shalaka and I truly appreciate you taking the time to read my story.

On December 31, 2024, my family and I were faced with the tragic loss of my mother, Lakeesha Redd. On December 11, 2024, my mother went into the hospital after suffering from a heart attack. She then had a stent placement due to having 100% blockage. A week later, she went home and was still not feeling well. We went back to the emergency room where they informed us she had an infection and would need open-heart surgery. Day in and day out, we prayed and prayed she would get better, and for a while, our prayers were being answered. On December 31, 2024, we got the call that our mother went into cardiac arrest and was hemorrhaging from the brain. Although we knew the doctors and surgeons couldn't do anything else, we still had faith that she would be alright and pull through. Looking at her laying there suffering was way more than we could take, so as we all surrounded her bedside and gave our final goodbyes with tears in our eyes and pain in our hearts, I am setting up this page to be able to give this sweet lady one last homegoing. Unfortunately, she also leaves behind 3 teenage children and 4 grandsons.
