Honoring Ky Adeyemo: Help Us Celebrate His Life

Donation protected
Our father, Ky Adeyemo, unexpectedly passed away on April 7, 2025. We are seeking funds to help us cover his celebration of life.

Backstory
About a month ago, my dad called to tell my sister and I that he was just diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer. He had been making multiple visits to the ER and urgent care with complaints about not being able to keep food in him. He had lost over 40 pounds within 3 months. We tried to be optimistic about this diagnosis; medicine had come so far. Both my sister and I booked our flights to see our dad and to support him on this journey. We were ready to fight alongside our dad as he battled this awful disease.

I arrived in Maryland on 3/31. My dad was a shell of himself. No muscle. Could barely talk. I was able to get him to his follow-up oncology and PET appointments. My original plan was to take a flight home, but my gut told me he was not okay. Three days after he was discharged from the ER, I took him back for the last time.

Unfortunately, none of us were prepared for what was to come. The following morning, I went back to the hospital and thought my dad would be his normal self. However, the doctors told me he took a turn for the worse. He had contracted a bacterial infection which led to sepsis. I called my sister to tell her the news and that she should change her flight ASAP.

He held on. She made it.

The only thing our dad told us was that he didn’t want to be resuscitated and he wanted to be cremated.

He thought he would have more time. We thought we would have more time with him.

In the short time spent with my dad in hospice, he couldn’t talk, but we learned about the kind of man he was outside of being our dad. He mentored other musicians. He was a goofball at work. He was a storyteller. He was kind hearted. He was generous. He was extremely proud of his daughters.

Our dad, Ky Adeyemo, passed away peacefully April 7, 2025.

Honoring our Papa Bear
It was clear to my sister and I, that our dad was loved by many and part of honoring his legacy is celebrating his life.

We are organizing a Celebration of Life on June 7, 2025 from 12PM–4PM at Unity by the Bay, and we would be so grateful for your support. Donations will go toward the venue, flowers, and food so that family and friends can gather in love and remembrance.

Any contribution, no matter the size, means the world to us. If you’re unable to give, please consider sharing this with others who knew our dad.

With heartfelt thanks,
CC & Symone
