Kurt Alan Benson, 61, of Trivoli, passed away peacefully surrounded by his friends and family at 12:35 AM on Monday, June 15, 2026, at OSF in Peoria, IL. A vibrant life well-lived with remarkable strength.

He was born on September 18, 1964 in Canton, IL to Dale and Glenene (Windish) Benson.

He was a great leader and a beloved role model to his three younger siblings. Kurt was a graduate of Farmington High School (Class of 1982). His biggest pride and joy was marrying his high-school sweetheart Janet Westhafer on July 7, 1984. He was so proud to have three incredible sons and enjoyed seeing all they have accomplished thus far. Family meant everything to Kurt and he was so proud to see the legacy live on by gaining two daughters-in-law; with so much joy coming from his five granddaughters.

Kurt was a lifelong Farmer, working initially on the Melville family farm and then the Bontz Pork Farm. He fulfilled his dream of becoming a Farmer with his family, where he was an owner and operator of Benson Farms. He was a proud Farmington FFA Alumni, as well as a member of the Illinois Corn and Soybean Promoters, Peoria County Pork Producers, and Two Rivers Cattlemen's Association. In his latest role, he served as Trivoli Township director of the Peoria County Farm Bureau. Kurt was a member of both the Farmington Odd Fellows and the Farmington Moose Lodge. He loved the University of Illinois and Fighting Illini Athletics. He loved to snowmobile with family and friends in St. Germain, Wisconsin and enjoyed watching NASCAR.

Kurt is survived by his wife, his parents, three children: Michael (Emily) Benson of Normal, IL, Zachary (Danielle) Benson of Walnut, IL, and Gabriel Benson of Trivoli, IL, and five granddaughters, Thea, Mara, Isabella, Hallie, and Zoey Benson. He is also survived by his sister, Karen (Kevin) Eastman and two brothers, Robert "Bob" (Patty) Benson, Ron (Sara) Benson, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM on Friday, June 19, 2026 at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, IL. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, IL. Rev. Cindy Bean will officiate. Burial will follow at Brunswick Cemetery in Trivoli, IL. A celebration of life will be held at the Logan-Trivoli Fire Department in Trivoli, IL immediately following the burial. Memorials may be made to The Kurt Benson Agricultural Scholarship, which will be formed through the Farmington Academic Foundation.
