Kris Whitney was born in Worcester, MA, on November 2, 1967, the fourth son of Glen A. and Lois Whitney. He was born blind with Congenital Glaucoma, the second of four brothers to face this rare condition. Despite his challenges, Kris attended public school and, in first grade, suffered a tragic accident that left him completely blind. Our family’s fight for justice after this event led to a landmark change in Massachusetts law, helping countless others even though it could not help us at the time.

Kris’s life was marked by resilience. In the mid-90s, he was diagnosed with Type-2 Diabetes and later overcame a pain pill addiction. He survived a near-fatal incident in 2006, coped with the loss of both our parents, and faced major health setbacks, including a triple bypass, chest repair, and the loss of his left leg. Through it all, Kris remained a devoted brother, friend, computer programmer, author, and an avid role player. He built a library of over 80,000 e-books and audiobooks, always seeking knowledge and adventure.

Kris passed away unexpectedly on December 15, 2025, after being released from the hospital just days before. He left behind no resources to cover his final expenses. Our father purchased cemetery plots in 1987, which we will now use to lay Kris to rest. He has been cremated and is awaiting burial on April 15, 2026. The funeral will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel in Worcester, MA, and Kris will be laid to rest at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton, MA.
