In Memory of Kimberly "Kim" Rene Barker

On August 29, 2026, our family lost Kimberly Rene Barker, a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend.

Kim was one of those people who made an impression on everyone around her. She had a quick wit, an infectious laugh, and a warm, welcoming personality that made people feel comfortable being themselves. She loved her family deeply, and she especially cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.

Kim had many things she enjoyed in life. She loved animals, especially dogs and cats, and enjoyed spending time outdoors and camping. She loved cars and watching racing, and she was always up for a good thriller or scary movie. In fact, she had an uncanny ability to figure out “who done it” within the first five minutes. She also loved music and attending concerts, enjoying the excitement of live performances and the memories made along the way.

For many years, Kim worked as a certified nursing assistant, caring for others with compassion and dedication. Later in life, despite living with a disability, she continued to find ways to help others whenever she could. She was always willing to make herself available to the people she loved, especially her grandchildren, and was happy to babysit, spend time with them, and simply be there when they needed her.

Her passing has left our family with not only the heartbreak of losing someone we love, but also the unexpected financial responsibilities that come with funeral and end-of-life expenses.

We created this GoFundMe to provide an opportunity for family, friends, and those who knew Kim to help ease some of that financial burden. Funds raised will be used toward her funeral and related expenses, allowing our family to focus on honoring Kim, supporting one another, and remembering the life she lived.

There is absolutely no obligation to contribute. We know everyone has different circumstances, and simply sharing this fundraiser, offering words of support, or remembering Kim and the joy she brought to others means a great deal to our family.

Kim’s memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home in Hagerstown, Maryland.
