Khanh “Cowboy” Doan was a remarkable grandfather who always put his family first. He bravely served during the Vietnam War as a South Vietnamese commando with MACV-SOG, a highly secret American special operations unit. During his six years serving alongside American forces, Cowboy participated in many dangerous missions and survived countless life-threatening situations before eventually losing his leg in combat in 1972.

After the fall of Saigon in 1975, Cowboy spent 11 years trying to escape Vietnam. After 14 failed attempts, he finally made it to the Philippines and later the United States, where he worked hard to build a better life for his family. Years later, Cowboy faced more hardships after becoming seriously ill with COVID-19 and undergoing lengthy dialysis treatments due to kidney failure. Despite everything he endured throughout his life, he always remained strong, loving, and devoted to his family. He was the best grandpa we could have asked for, and his strength, sacrifices, and love meant everything to us.

Khanh Doan recently passed away due to kidney failure. Our family is heartbroken and struggling with the unexpected costs of his funeral and burial.
