Kerry Barchus was known to everyone who had the opportunity to meet him as a man who could always make you cry from laughter. He was just a naturally funny guy, with a great sense of humor, always ready for a prank or a joke. My father was incredibly proud to be a Brother of the E. Clampus Vitus Chapter 711 "Pair-O-Dice" for over 40 years. He knew everybody, and everybody knew him. My Daddy was the strongest man I have ever known, surviving the Campfire, two open heart surgeries, a mild stroke, and kidney failure. He managed to overcome all of that and had a clean bill of health for three years, up until Thursday, March 3rd, 2026, when he went to bed and passed away in his sleep. My Daddy was the best Daddy a girl could have ever asked for.
Now, I am facing the costs of my Daddy's cremation and memorial expenses. His wishes were to be interred with his mother, Patricia "Patti" Longhofer, and his Nana, Melba Welch, in Yreka, California. Unfortunately, many years ago, when Melba was laid to rest, the funeral home misspelled her name on the headstone. Instead of "Melba Welch," it was engraved as "Mebla." My goal is to have the headstone replaced with the correct spelling and to add my Daddy, my grandma Patti, and my great-grandfather's names. My dad wanted nothing more than to get this mistake fixed, as it was what his mother wanted before she passed. It is now my responsibility to make sure it's done in memory of my Daddy. None of this is cheap, and the costs for cremation, interment, and the new headstone will depend on how much I can raise. Any donations will help me get closer to achieving these goals. I am all he had to make sure this is done, and I am determined to honor all of their memories.
Any support, no matter the amount, will mean the world to me as I work on honoring my Daddy's memory. He was an amazing man and deserves to have his final wishes carried through. Thank you for your support.
