On March 15th, our family lost Kerri in a way that no family is ever prepared for.

She was a mother first. Her children were her entire world. She was smart, hardworking, and did everything she could to give them a beautiful life.

Now, her children — Lyla (16) and Lucas (11) — are left trying to understand a loss no child should ever have to face.

Right now, they are in the care of their father, Juan, who has fully stepped up for them during this unimaginable time. He has always been a good and present dad, but this is more than anyone should have to carry — grieving the loss of Kerri while also taking on everything that comes with caring for Lyla and Lucas and handling final arrangements.

He is doing everything he can to stay strong for them, but the reality is, he is carrying this largely on his own.

There has been little to no support from family, and the weight of this situation is overwhelming.

We are trying to bring Kerri home from Florida to New York so she can be laid to rest with her daughter, Kayla, and her mother — together again where she belongs. The cost of transportation, funeral services, and burial is more than Juan can manage on his own, especially while caring for two grieving children who now need him more than ever.

This isn’t just about funeral expenses.

This is about giving a mother the goodbye she deserves.

This is about helping Lyla and Lucas feel supported during the most painful moment of their lives.

This is about standing behind a father who is doing everything he can for his kids.
