On April 23, 2026, Katie, accompanied by her son Mason and her mother Vicki, went to Providence St. Joseph Hospital. Katie had not been feeling well, and at 31 weeks and 5 days pregnant with her second son, her condition quickly became critical.
After being admitted, events progressed rapidly, ultimately leading to an emergency cesarean section in an effort to relieve the strain on her body. After her baby boy was delivered, Katie went into cardiac arrest in the operating room. Despite the tireless efforts of the doctors and hospital staff, they were unable to save her. She passed away surrounded by those fighting to keep her here, and the Lord has called her home.
Her baby boy was stabilized in the NICU and later transferred to a higher-level facility, where he remains stable and continues to grow stronger each day.
Anyone who knew Katie knows how extraordinary she was. She was a devoted and loving mother to her two boys, a remarkable sister to her four younger siblings, a brave and caring daughter, and a deeply cherished friend. This loss is sudden and devastating, leaving all of us grieving a heartbreak we were never prepared to face.
Losing my sister—the woman who helped raise me—is a pain that will last a lifetime. It is especially difficult knowing she will never have the chance to hold her newborn son, to give Mason her warm hugs and kisses, or to raise her boys as she so beautifully would have. The future now holds many unknowns for her family.
For this reason, I am establishing this fund to help ease the financial burden for those Katie leaves behind, and most importantly, to help provide stability and support for her two young sons.
We kindly ask for patience, compassion, and understanding as our family navigates this profound loss. Updates about the baby will be shared respectfully with those directly involved. Information about a celebration of Katie’s life will be shared at a later time.
Thank you all for your love, support, and prayers. ❤️
