Yesterday, July 30, 2025, at 3:33 pm, (Kathy) "Mimi", "Ma" Rose Lister unexpectedly passed away after four long months of fighting for her life after multiple devastating strokes in the brain stem.
On April 7, 2025, Kathy had a stroke. She was rushed to Twin Cities Hospital, where she was airlifted to Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara.
While she was there, she was gaining strength, stood up, was talking, and even ate. Nine days later, she had another stroke that rendered her incapacitated.
Kathy was sent to the only accepting facility that could meet her needs in Bakersfield, CA.
Hattie, her daughter, fought tooth and nail to get her into a facility in SLO County where she resided with them and her beloved grandchildren.
For months, she was denied due to her high needs. Kathy's family and friends traveled weekly to Bakersfield to visit with her.
Finally, on July 16th, Kathy was accepted and transferred to the facility in SLO where her family and friends could visit her daily.
On July 30th at 3:33 pm, Mimi was found unresponsive and unexpectedly passed away.
Kathy had two children, Hattie and Younger Davis, and several people that she considered her children and raised, and many grandchildren that she loved more than anything in the world. She helped raise her grandchildren and she never missed a single event, birthday, or special moment that any of her loved ones had.
Kathy was only 65 years old and unfortunately, the family had not yet set up any life insurance or afterlife plans because there was so much hope that she would be able to come home. Due to Kathy being rendered incapacitated nine days into her hospital stay, the family was unable to secure any type of burial insurance because Kathy could not sign for herself.
The family has exhausted funds while traveling to see her and the costs of transporting her to and from hospitals and facilities.
If everyone could please share, donate, and pray for the family and friends during this time. The family would be grateful for any contribution to assist with Mimi's afterlife wishes and cremation.
She's an angel watching over us now telling everyone PEACE!
