Katherine King was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. She shared a beautiful love story with her husband, Wayne—they had been together since the 8th grade and spent 45 years side by side, building a life centered around family, love, and unwavering support for one another.
Katherine was truly the heart of her family. She raised three sons, adored her seven grandchildren, and cherished her great-grandson. Some of her happiest moments were spent fishing and camping with Wayne and her grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
In a heartbreaking and unexpected turn, Katherine passed away on Friday, February 13th, after a sudden and aggressive cancer diagnosis. What began as shocking news quickly became an incredibly difficult journey for their family, lasting only a few short months. During that time, Wayne cared for her tirelessly—by her side every step of the way—taking her to frequent appointments and even traveling to Boston in hopes of finding answers and more time together.
As you can imagine, the emotional toll has been immense, and the financial burden that followed has been overwhelming. Many of the medical and travel expenses were unexpected and had to be placed on credit, including everyday necessities during her care. Wayne is now facing life without his lifelong partner while also navigating the financial strain left behind. This comes after the family has already endured the devastating loss of Katherine’s grandson, Wyatt, just two years ago.
Katherine spent her life giving to others, always showing up with love, strength, and generosity. Now, we are asking for support for Wayne during this incredibly difficult time. Contributions will go toward covering Katherine’s end-of-life expenses and helping ease the financial burden Wayne now carries.
Any amount, no matter how small, is deeply appreciated. If you’re unable to give, sharing this fundraiser with others would mean just as much.
Thank you for your kindness, support, and for helping us honor Katherine’s memory.
**I am Wayne's great niece. I have organized this for Wayne and his family. All donations will go directly to Wayne's account. Thank you**
