Honoring JY

In early February 2019, our dear friend and colleague Ja-Young Sung (JY) passed away. Besides being an amazing researcher and teammate, her generosity, optimism and strength were nothing short of inspiring. 

JY's caring and selflessness affected everyone that knew her. A passionate volunteer, she would spend her free time helping children with life-threatening illness. And when my own daughter was diagnosed with cancer it was JY's optimism and kindness that helped carry me through (JY would even send care packages from Korea). Her bright spirit touched me at the deepest levels, and I will miss her incredibly.

She leaves behind her husband and her young son Linus, who she adored. She often expressed concern for his future, so we are collecting funds to help provide for Linus's education and wellbeing.
