March 18 2024, our little family found out we were expecting a baby on the way. With having a 2 year old sweet girl along with our 11 month old daughter, we were beyond excited to experience life with 3 babies. At 23 weeks pregnant we found out heartbreaking news that our unborn child was diagnosed with Bilateral multicystic dysplastic kidney. (MCDK) is a rare, lethal condition where both kidneys are replaced by cysts and are non-functional. 1 In 3,000 pregnant women experience this, with the unfortunate news of having no cure for it. With that, we also came along to find out I had little to no amniotic fluid to help the baby’s lungs gradually grow. With the amazing care/ help from UCSF we were given options to try to help, however, none of the options would physically cure anything. We were given 0% chance of survival rate for our unborn baby girl. Our options would put the baby and I at a high risk of preterm labor or stillbirth. With all the risks that would come our way, we chose to deliver at 34 weeks to meet our baby girl alive & give her a fighting chance in this world. October 17, Juliana Silva Andrade made her arrival & fought as much as she could unfortunately, she did not make it & is now resting. We ask to please help give Juliana the services she deserves.
