In Loving Memory of Jonathan Iheke
With heavy hearts, we share that Jonathan Iheke peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, after a courageous and hard-fought battle with Renal Medullary Carcinoma (RMC).
First and foremost, our family would like to say thank you. To everyone who donated, shared this page, prayed, encouraged, and stood beside Jonathan during his fight — we are forever grateful. Your generosity helped cover medical treatments, hospital stays, daily living expenses, and allowed Jonathan to focus on fighting with everything he had. Jonathan fought valiantly against this rare and aggressive cancer. Even on his hardest days, he carried himself with strength, grace, and unwavering faith. No matter what he was feeling or facing physically, he continued to uplift others, offer encouragement, and show gratitude.
His Battle with Renal Medullary Carcinoma
Jonathan was diagnosed with Renal Medullary Carcinoma, an extremely rare and aggressive form of kidney cancer that primarily affects young African American men who carry the sickle cell trait. What began as a shocking and unexpected discovery quickly turned into a life-altering journey filled with surgery, chemotherapy, hospital stays, and numerous medical challenges. Despite medical interventions, the cancer continued to progress. Through it all, Jonathan never allowed those challenges to break his spirit.
Life, Faith, and Legacy
Jonathan was 32 years old and engaged to the love of his life. He was known for his God-fearing heart, infectious sense of humor, and the way he poured into the people around him. He always put God and family first. He was the one who showed up. The one who encouraged others. The one who posted motivating quotes because he genuinely lived in that spirit of joy. His faith never wavered.
“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”
— James 1:12 (NLT)
Jonathan persevered under trial. And we find comfort in knowing he has received his crown of life.
Transition to Memorial & Funeral Support
As we navigate this unimaginable loss, we have created this GoFundMe to help cover Jonathan’s funeral and memorial expenses.
We are incredibly grateful for the previous fundraiser organized by our cousins to assist with Jonathan’s medical and living expenses during his battle. That chapter has now concluded, and we remain so thankful for the love and generosity shown during that time.
If you feel led to support our family in this season, we deeply appreciate any contribution. Every donation will go directly toward honoring Jonathan’s life and covering expenses related to his celebration of life service and associated costs.
If you are unable to give, sharing this page and keeping our family in your prayers means just as much.
Jonathan’s life made a lasting impact. His strength, faith, humor, and love will continue to live on in all of us.
