Honoring Jonathan: A Family's Final Goodbye
Donation protected
When you talk to a man of God about death, it's hard to feel anything other than love and light. The pure acceptance and almost joy about meeting his creator, his true final destination. One that is filled with no pain or suffering. Eternity in heaven with his father. That was Jonathan, full of God's goodness and never-ending love. Through hard times, he could find comfort in the name of Jesus alone, and what a beautiful habit he's ingrained into all of us, his wife, children, and grandchildren.
In January 2023, he received a diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer. His survival odds were disheartening, yet Jonathan remained in good spirits and continued attending his church at Goodlettsville Pentecostal, chasing his grandchildren around, and receiving treatment for the cancer. The Lord's grace shined on all of us, and we were blessed with nearly two and a half additional years.
Sadly, treatments stopped working, and he took a rapid decline in health. The cancer took over, and we suspected we would not have much longer with him. Frequent trips to the ER and complications led him to one week on hospice before we lost him on June 1st, 2025.
After pulling together and looking at our options, we came up with the decision to start a GoFundMe to help with the sudden expenses of losing Jonathan. We want to honor his last wishes, a memorial at the church of his choice, and cremation of his body.
This sudden situation has left his wife in an unfortunate financial circumstance. As her children, we are doing all that we can but humbly ask for help at this time. Whether it's donating a penny or a prayer.
16 pages of his favorite Bible verses (front and back) cover his prayer room. Although I'm sure he couldn't pick his favorite, looking at who he was as an individual, I'd say this is an accurate representation of who he was and how he lived his life. His commitment to continually praise God regardless of the situation.
Psalm 34:1
I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
