Honoring Jon Dylan Hammer Perge

Our precious husband, son, grandson, nephew, and uncle, Jon Dylan Perge, left this earth on Sunday, October 10, 2021.

 

Funeral arrangements and Celebration of Life are scheduled for next week. Details to follow.

 

After surviving a month’s stay in the hospital and two weeks on a ventilator during COVID in March-April of 2020, Jon succumbed to respiratory failure.

 

He leaves behind his wife of almost two years, Tala, and their “fur baby” husky, Gordo.

 

Jon loved people at a deeper level than most, especially those often neglected by the mainstream. He had a powerful presence and wore his heart on his sleeve. As a result, no one ever needed to ask what Jon was thinking or feeling. His favorite pastor was Steven Furtick of Elevation Church, whom he and Tala watched online. Jon was a Believer, and we are confident of his place in Heaven where we’ll see him again.

 

Many people have expressed interest in how they may help, and this Gofundme account will help pay for funeral expenses and assist Tala as she moves to the next chapter of her life. Jon was the sole provider of the home as Tala was recently awarded her Permanent Citizenship--a long-held goal of them both to establish residency in both the U.S. and Colombia.

 

Jon was an athlete in high school, participating in football and wrestling. As an adult, he was an entrepreneur at heart, starting a moving company, managing up-and-coming hip hop artists, and plans to launch the Yellow Tucan with his wife, Tala. He loved working with his dad in numerous startups as well.

 

In addition to Tala, his immediate family includes his mother Cheryl, father Damir, brothers Paul, Michael, and Isaac, and sister Mira Paige. He has a nephew, Ivan, and niece, Ilijana, whom he dearly loved, and they loved him as much in return. Jon especially loved his Colombian family and life in Medellin. He leaves behind his father-in-law, Carlos (Papa), mother-in-law, Rose, sister-in-law, Laura, and precious niece, Victoria. He has many extended family members in the Dallas area, including his grandmother, Miroslava (Baba), Uncle Chico, Aunt Angela, cousins Danijela and Luka, Ceca Helen, and Uncle Slavko. His Aunt Debbie and Uncle Andy, cousins Wes, Liz, Nick, and grandmother Mary Beth (Ernie), live in North Carolina, and his favorite Uncle Steve in Oklahoma.
