Remembering Johnny Porter

Hey Everyone,

We share with heavy hearts that our dad, Johnny Porter, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 12 at just 57 years old. This loss has rocked our family in ways we’re still trying to process. He was the most badass, loving dad to four daughters and the proudest grandpa to nine grandkids—with one more on the way. He and our mom, Becky, have been married for 37 years after experiencing love at first sight. They built a life rooted in love, laughter, and family. A legacy truly fit for our father.

Earlier this year, our mom lost her job and put life on hold to take care of dad as his health started to decline. He was on hospice for 4 months and during that time she gave him her full heart and attention. We are so grateful for the love and strength she showed during his final months. All he wanted was for her to be by his side like the past 37 years.

In addition to helping us plan a memorial that truly honors Johnny— someone who loved deeply, played music endlessly, and made an impact on so many lives- we’re also hoping to raise funds to help support our mom as she navigates this huge loss and begins to rebuild. She’s lost not only her soulmate, but her financial stability, and we want to do everything we can to make sure she’s surrounded by the same love and care she gave so selflessly.

We’d love to rent a space big enough to bring everyone together and make room for live music. Music was such a huge part of our life. If you knew our dad, you know he'd want loud music playing and people sharing memories, laughing, and crying together. What better way to honor such an amazing man.
