With broken hearts, we share that our dear friend, John Westerman, lost his courageous battle with cancer and went home to Jesus the morning of January 14th. Heaven gained not just an angel, but a true warrior.
For more than four years, John fought this disease with everything he had. He never accepted defeat. His hope never wavered. His faith never faltered. His will to live for his family far surpassed what his body could physically endure. Though his body could no longer fight as fiercely as his spirit, John remained strong until his final breath.
John leaves behind his beautiful wife, Carol, and their three precious children, Cullen, Samuel, and Eleanor, who were the absolute center of his world. No family should ever have to endure this kind of loss, and no words can fully express the heartbreak they are facing.
John was a man of God, a devoted servant to his community, and a true example of selflessness. Before joining the Texas Department of Public Safety, he served as a Houston firefighter for ten years. He graduated from the DPS Academy in 2018 and proudly served as a Texas State Trooper until the very end, never wavering in his commitment to protect and serve, even while fighting the hardest battle of his life.
As John now rests in the arms of Jesus, it is our turn to step in and care for his beautiful family he loved so fiercely. We are starting this GoFundMe to help Carol and the kids with immediate and future expenses as they navigate life without John. He was their sole provider, their constant, their rock, and this support will help provide stability during an incredibly uncertain and painful time.
John was deeply loved, and his legacy will live on through his children and every life he touched. Thank you for supporting Carol and the kids as we surround them with love and care in the days, months and years ahead.
