John Henry passed away leaving behind a life marked by faith, service, courage, and dedication to others.
John began his military service in the Army at the age of 18 during the Vietnam era, serving in Thailand. He later continued his distinguished career in the United States Air Force from 1968 until his retirement in 1988. During his years of service, he was stationed in the United States, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and Sicily, building lifelong memories and friendships while faithfully serving his country.
Following his retirement from the Air Force, John devoted more than three decades, from 1988 to 2020, to missionary work alongside his beloved wife, Sue, to whom he was married for more than 30 years. Together they shared a passion for spreading the Gospel and serving communities throughout Thailand.
John’s missionary work was filled with remarkable stories of faith and bravery. In one unforgettable moment, he was shot at while protecting a battered woman from an abusive man who was later revealed to be a police officer. Even in dangerous situations, John remained steadfast in his commitment to helping others and standing for what was right.
Throughout his ministry, John founded a Thai Bible school, established two radio broadcasts, and helped plant several churches. His work touched countless lives and helped strengthen Christian communities for generations to come. He also courageously led Bible studies in Saudi Arabia, risking expulsion for openly sharing his faith.
John visited the Holy Land twice, experiences that deeply enriched his spiritual life and strengthened his faith. Above all, John was a devoted husband, father, and man of faith. He lovingly adopted Chumpion, Psalm, and Song, giving them a family rooted in love, guidance, and faith.
John Henry will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to God, his love for his family, his courage in the face of danger, and his lifelong mission to serve others. His legacy lives on through the many people whose lives he changed through his ministry, kindness, and example.
