Many of you have reached out asking how you can help after the recent passing of my grandfather, John Harold Harbaugh. I hadn’t planned to create a fundraiser, but because so many people have asked, I wanted to provide this space for those who feel moved to contribute.
All donations will go directly toward covering funeral expenses and celebration of life costs.
My grandfather was an incredibly talented and hardworking man. He was a builder—many of you may have one of his handcrafted clocks or rocking horses in your home. He was also a gifted artist, and his paintings now hang in the homes of family and friends who cherish them.
He loved the outdoors and shared countless fishing and camping trips with loved ones. In his younger years, he worked as a deep sea fisherman, braving the open waters with skill and determination. He even built his own home from the ground up, a true testament to his craftsmanship and dedication. Grandpa’s creativity, generosity, and love for life touched everyone who knew him.
In his final months, Grandpa was cared for at KVHD Skilled Nursing Facility, where the staff treated him with kindness and respect. He often told us how happy he was there and how much he valued the friendships he built with the nurses and staff.
His passing was sudden and unexpected. I spoke with him earlier that same day, and he seemed to be improving. But that night, I received the heartbreaking call that he was gone. Losing him so unexpectedly has been devastating for our family, and we are doing our best to navigate this difficult time while honoring his life and legacy.
Our family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, support, and kind words we’ve received. Every story you share and every memory you recall keeps Grandpa’s spirit alive.
Any contribution—no matter the amount—will help us give him the farewell he deserves and celebrate his life in the way he would have wanted.
From our hearts to yours, thank you for standing with us during this time. Your generosity and love mean more than words can express.
—The Harbaugh/Register Family ❤️
