Honoring Joey: Support after this devastating loss.
Donation protected
It is with great sadness that I am writing this. On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, Joey was struggling badly with his asthma and called 911. When they arrived 9 minutes later, he was already deceased. They performed life saving CPR and after 10 minutes, they were able to get his heartbeat back. He was rushed to Christiana Care where he was put on a ventilator to keep him with us. Over the last few days, his status has been very rocky. Joey has struggled with asthma since he was a very young boy.
On Friday, May 9, 2025, after 17 days of fighting, Joey passed peacefully with his immediate family by his side. Our family is devastated by this. Joey’s daughter, Abigail Evelyn will be without her father. He will never send her off to her high school prom, he will never see her graduate high school, he will never watch her further her future and grow into the wonderful woman he knows she will become, he will never get to walk her down the aisle to marry the love of her life, he will never get to meet her children, his grandchildren. All of these things were stripped away from both Abigail and himself. Joey also has a dog, Nibbler, who he loves more than anything. Nibbler is being cared for by Joey’s friend, Rob who Joey and Nibbler both lived with during this time.
By contributing to this fundraiser, you will be helping to alleviate some of the financial strain for Joey’s wife, Edana, to cover funeral costs and medical expenses. Any remaining funds will be used to set up a trust for Abigail, to financially assist her attend college and navigate through life without her dad. We are also going to have an Amazon wishlist set up to help with Nibbler for food, treats, medicine, toys, etc. as he misses his dad very much.
Thank you to anyone who donates, sends prayers, positive vibes or even shares this. All of his family, friends and chosen family are all grieving this devastating loss. Thank you all for loving Joey.
Love and light,
The Cardoso Family
