Hello, my name is Oliver, and I'm a 17 year old high school senior getting ready to embark on a new journey in my life as a student at Bowling Green State University this fall. My family is in dire need of financial support, both for future college expenses as well as cremation/post-death expenses for my mother, who was taken off of life support and passed away on March 5th, 2026.
My mother, Joey Caylor Spencer, was a fierce, extremely strong fighter of a woman who was terminally ill for 11+ years with several different illnesses, including Takayasu Arteritis and Mesenteric Ischemia. She fought up until the very end, where she luckily passed peacefully, surrounded by family and loved ones. Hospital bills, funeral costs, cremation costs, and other expenses add an extreme level of stress upon our already grieving family. And we were never capable of getting life insurance for my mom due to her illnesses.
My father is also unable to work to pay these expenses due to being a 100% disabled veteran. This means the only source of income we currently have is what little the VA will give him monthly. We realistically just cannot survive on this little amount of money at this time. My father now has to support himself, me, and my 20-year-old autistic brother all on his own. My dad isn't a man who will accept help easily- but he knows right now that he has to, or else we won't be able to survive.
If you donate, your money will go towards: food for my family, hospital bill coverage, various funeral costs, any of the medications we all have to have, as well as college cost coverage for me. My mom was so excited for me to go to college, and she always told me that she would do everything she could so I was able to go and be as financially comfortable as possible.
Since my mom's passing, we've posted on social media about it and found out that, for a self-proclaimed introvert with no friends, my mom was extremely outgoing and helped a ton of people. Across our pages, there have been hundreds of people talking about their experiences with my mom- how she helped them get through tough times, how she supported them when nobody else did. It's been both extremely comforting and surprising to see this outpouring of love from so many people around the world. We always knew my mom was a helper. But we never knew that she made this large of an impact before.
I appreciate you taking the time to read and possibly donating- please share this wherever you can!
Thank you,
Larry (Joey's husband)
Riley (Joey's oldest son)
Oliver (Joey's youngest child)
Thank you to everyone who has donated .as well as sharing this with everyone.
Please keep sharing!!!
