Honoring Jim & Supporting His Family
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Austin Davenport. I'm the youngest of Jim Davenport's 3 adult children.
On February 12, 2023, my dad was in a serious car accident. He sustained severe injuries, resulting in his being intubated & put on multiple other life-sustaining treatments. My mom, siblings, & the many other loved ones of Dad are heartbroken & overwhelmed.
24/7, aside from going home once every other day to shower, my mom has been by my dad's side in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. She's slept in a chair next to his bed, played him music, talked to him, held his hand, & read the many cards from loved ones.
This past week, the first of March 2023, sobering conversations with several doctors left me, my mom, my brother, & sister with an unimaginably difficult decision to make. Understanding Dad's clearly-stated wishes in this worst-case-scenario, it's been decided that he will be moved into hospice care & extubated this weekend.
The grief is overwhelming. The financial strain is overwhelming. The heartbreak is overwhelming. We were not prepared, in any sense, for this to be happening.
My Dad has always been an incredibly generous, fun-loving, tenacious man. He taught me more than I can account for. He's loved my mom for the past 40 years, he's loved me & my siblings our entire lives, & he's loved his cherished friends throughout the decades.
My Dad is a proud Marine Corps veteran, having flown an A6 as a fighter pilot in Vietnam.
He's always loved a good prank, wager, college football, & my mom's cooking.
I miss him so much already.
If it's available to you, my mom & I would be forever grateful for funds donated towards the massive, unexpected expenses of this tragedy. If not, please share, & please hug you loved ones close.
Thank you for reading.
Much gratitude,
Austin
