Honoring Jim Ortega: Navy Vet and Dad

This GoFundMe is dedicated to raise funds to cover the expenses related to Jim Ortega’s funeral.

Raymond James Ortega was born on August 22, 1943 in Trinidad, Colorado. Raymond James Ortega preferred to go by the name Jim. He learned to play the trumpet and became a talented musician. He enlisted into the Navy as a sailor and was stationed at Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam. One of his favorite hobbies while he served in the Navy was boxing. The ship he was assigned to during his service was the USS General J.C. Breckinridge.

After his time in the Navy he entered the field of professional education. He cared about the students with whom he worked, maintaining an excellent rapport with his coworkers and pupils. He wanted all of his students to succeed, and he always served as a good role model for them while steadily encouraging them to aim for success.

In addition to having a passion for teaching, Jim was also an entrepreneur. He started and operated his own security company called High Sierra Security Company.

Most of all, Jim was a loving father to his daughter Sabrina Nicole, and son Micah James.

The last years of his life was enriched and cherished by Nicole and Micah. His goal was always to charm and humor Nicole, and he wanted to make sure that he made them both proud (And he did)!
