Honoring Jim: A Memorial for a Gentle Soul

My name is Callie, and I am working to raise funds for a memorial for my fiance Jim. At the beginning of this year, he had a bad case of pneumonia, which lead to the hospital catching the signs of throat cancer. He ensued a battle against it for the rest of the year, which first took his ability to eat, then his voice, then his mobility, and finally lead to a long 7 month hospital stay on a ventilator before he finally succumbed to the death. This whole process was trying in itself, and has both strained the home which I have managed to keep going despite all of this, but I find myself hoping that there is some hope for some help for giving a fitting memorial for him.

Jim was a gentle man, who spent his life in labor. He worked in a lumber yard for much of his life, had a love of history, music, architecture, board games and Marvel comics. He would go most weeks to a local karaoke spot in town, and sing songs in honor of his late father. He enjoyed legos, and used it as a way to keep his hands nimble, since he had damaged his hands earlier in life through work. He used to love watching the birds and rabbits that would hang out in the yards below us.

He didn't have much left for family, and the ones he did have remaining had long since moved far away, and he had long since lost contact with them even before we got together years ago. We were getting close to getting ready for marriage when this disaster struck us, but fortunately the medical treatments were at least covered by insurance. The trips to see him and the supplies to help him with his situation as it progressed did take away all the funds we had gathered though, leaving me here, hoping for the benevolence of others to help with this situation.
