Help us Honor Jessica Chavero’s Life

On the night of Friday, January 2nd, our family’s lives changed forever. My beloved second mom, Jessica, was involved in an accident that caused her to go into sudden cardiac arrest. From that night on, she has been in the ICU, where our family held onto faith, hope, and prayer for a miracle. Despite round-the-clock care and every effort made, she was later pronounced brain dead, and on Thursday, January 8th she was medically declared deceased.

Jessica leaves behind three beautiful boys, ages 10, 16, and 17, who were her entire world, and my dad, who is now facing the unimaginable loss of his partner, his best friend, and the woman who helped hold our family together.
Jessica was truly a superwoman. She chose to love my dad knowing he already had three kids, and trust me, we didn’t make it easy for her. Yet she loved us fiercely and selflessly anyway. Even in her passing, she continued to bless others as an organ donor, reflecting the immense heart she carried throughout her life.

Our family made the decision to keep Jessica on life support while she was in the ICU, believing with everything in us that God is capable of miracles. And we chose to give her every opportunity possible. While doctors ultimately had to make the legal decision to remove life support, because our family was not willing to make that call ourselves, we stand firm in knowing we acted out of love.
Because Jessica was medically pronounced deceased on January 8th, we are now being advised that insurance will not cover many of the ICU and medical costs. We don’t yet know what the full financial burden will look like, but we do know that the system often leaves families carrying overwhelming expenses during the most painful moments of their lives.

Right now, our family is grieving deeply. These days have been confusing, exhausting, heartbreaking, and humbling, bringing us to our knees over and over again. We ask first and foremost for your prayers as we try to navigate this loss together.

We also ask, only if you are able, for your support. Any donation, no matter the amount, will help ease the financial weight placed on my dad and my brothers, allowing them the space and time to grieve without added stress.

My dad and Jessica were always the ones to give, blankets, food, money, help, and love, to anyone in need. I truly believe that God returns blessings in abundance, and that through your generosity, prayers, and shares, my dad will see his way through this unimaginable season.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for every prayer, every share, every kind word, and every donation. Your love and support mean more than we can ever put into words.

God bless you.
