Jeronimo Chaparro Cruz, born September 30, 1959 in La Capital, Mexico, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a pillar of the community, owning, supplying, and distributing goods for many local restaurants and businesses in southern Los Angeles from Vernon to Carson, CA, from the early 1990s through 2020. Jeronimo was beloved by friends and family alike, and his hobbies included beach walks and playing racquetball with colleagues at the local LA Fitness in Downey, California.
Since 2010, Jeronimo survived five strokes and became immobile as of 2020. In May 2026, he was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer and passed away just a week later. Our family faced even more hardship when the home he built in Lynwood, CA, was lost to a fire in July 2026, leaving us displaced and adding to his depression in his final days.
We are raising funds to help his wife, Maria Gonzalez, cover the full cost of cremation and services. The funds will also help with flight and transportation to Mexico, so we can deliver some of Jeronimo's remains to family who cared for him there. Additionally, your support will help Maria not have to worry about expenses for a couple of weeks as she grieves, and allow us to host a thank you dinner for all the friends and family who stood by Jeronimo during his years of illness. Any support you can offer during this difficult time will make a meaningful difference for our family as we honor Jeronimo's memory and thank those who helped him.
