Justice for Jerkera Battle & Support for Baby Noah
It is with deep sorrow and a broken heart that I share this tragic , gruesome and devastating loss of Jerkera Battle. On July 22nd in a brutal act of domestic violence.
Jerkera, a 22 year old, mother, daughter, sister, friend, cousin life was taking away.
Jerkera was an independent , beautiful, kind, and strong young woman who had already endured so much trauma in her life. She lost her mother at a young age and was raised by her loving grandmother, Ruby, who stepped in to care for Jerkera and her 3 brothers. Despite the heartbreak of her past, Jerkera found joy and happiness again when she became a mother to her precious baby boy, Noah. Although she feared motherhood because of her own loss, Noah changed everything. He was her light, her purpose, her greatest blessing.
In an unthinkable act of violence, Jerkera’s life was taken by her ex-boyfriend, Adam Makowka who waited outside her home, climbed a fire escape, broke into her apartment and shot Jerkera in the head with an AR- 15 rifle. He then attempted to harm their infant son before he was stopped and fled the scene. By what can only be describe as a miracle, 3-month-old Noah survived. Noah will now grow up without the love, warmth, and guidance of his mother who cherished him more than anything in this world.
Now, Jerkera’s oldest brother and Noah’s Uncle, Al-Keimual Smalling , will raise Noah as his own. With the help of their grandmother, who once again will faced with the unimaginable: burying her granddaughter while stepping up to help raise her great-grandchild.
We are asking for your help and support during this incredibly painful time. Funds raised will go directly toward:
• Funeral and memorial costs to honor Jerkera’s life with the dignity she deserves
• Essential care for Noah, including clothing, diapers, formula, shoes, and toys
• Financial support for Jerkera’s family , who now carries the responsibility and load of raising a 3-month-old baby boy.
Noah has already lost so much at a young age, and we want to ensure he grows up surrounded by love, stability, and support. Your generosity will help give Noah a future shaped by hope and faith instead of tragedy.
Thank you for standing with us, for remembering Jerkera, and for showing baby Noah that he is not alone.
