In Loving Memory of Jeff Tootle
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Jeff Tootle, who entered into eternal rest at 5:07 a.m. on June 22, 2026.
Jeff was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, teammate, mentor, and friend whose impact reached far beyond the football field. A proud Colorado native, Jeff built a remarkable legacy through hard work, perseverance, faith, and love for others.
Jeff's football journey began at Colorado Mesa University, where he became one of the most accomplished defensive players in school history. As a two-time NAIA All-American linebacker, three-time All-RMAC selection, and member of the university's Hall of Honor, Jeff helped lead the Mavericks to consecutive national runner-up finishes and left a lasting mark on the program. After his collegiate career, Jeff achieved a lifelong dream by earning a spot with the New York Giants, appearing in professional games during the 1987 season.
While football brought Jeff recognition, those who knew him best understood that his greatest accomplishments had nothing to do with tackles, awards, or professional sports. His true passion was his family. Jeff was a man who cherished every moment spent with those he loved. He was the steady presence at family gatherings, the encouraging voice during difficult times, and the person who would always put others before himself.
Throughout his life, Jeff faced health challenges with the same courage and determination that defined his playing days. He never allowed adversity to steal his faith or his spirit. Instead, he leaned on God, trusting in His plan and finding strength through prayer, scripture, and the support of his loved ones. Jeff's faith was not simply something he spoke about—it was something he lived every day through his kindness, humility, generosity, and unwavering love for others.
Today, Jeff leaves behind a grieving family who are not only mourning the loss of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend but are also facing the unexpected financial burden of funeral and memorial expenses.
We are asking for your support during this difficult time. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help alleviate funeral costs and provide assistance to Jeff's family as they navigate the days and months ahead. If you are unable to donate, we ask that you please share this page and keep Jeff's family in your prayers.
Jeff's legacy is one of faith, family, perseverance, and service. He showed us what it means to work hard, love deeply, and trust God through every season of life. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing that Jeff is now at peace in the presence of the Lord he loved so dearly.
Thank you for honoring Jeff's memory and supporting his family during this time of loss.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23
May God bless you for your kindness, prayers, and support.
