Honoring Jeff: Supporting his Celebration of Life

My name is Brian Reedy and I'm the brother of Jeff Reedy. Jeff was an amazing human being who lived a life full of faith, hope, and love. He was one of the most brilliant people I've met and his thought was characterized by a unique and passionate engagement with ideas and languages. He was a prolific author who touched the lives of many through his novels, blogs, vlogs, and social media presence. He was a loyal friend, generous giver, persistent encourager, and faithful follower of Christ.

Jeff's unexpected death on the morning of 26 February 2024 has rocked his family and friends. Everyone is grappling with the reality of the mental health struggle he was fighting, mostly in silence. People wonder what his suicide means in the big picture, and particularly in Jeff's case. Jeff's life was characterized by exactly this kind of care for those around him that Jesus describes as the criterion of judgment in Matt 25:31-46, so we hope and pray that he, trusting in the mercy of God, will hear Jesus say to him, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."

The unexpected nature of Jeff's death has placed a financial strain on his parents, who are retired and using their available funds to relocate near me in California (the difficult direction to move, financially speaking). We are asking for help in deferring the funeral costs, and the cost of a Celebration of Life fitting to the joy, courage, and love he brought to so many.
