Hi everyone,
March 12th was Jeff Diamond’s 51st birthday.
This feels like something he would’ve handled differently.
He wouldn’t want a long, overly serious email about how much he’s missed. If anything, he’d want this to be slightly uncomfortable and followed immediately by something that makes everyone laugh harder than they expected.
Jeff was easily the funniest and one of the most caring people any of us knew. Like many of his comedic heroes, JD’s humor was proudly immature and delivered with complete commitment. He could laugh at himself faster than anyone else. And he never made someone else the punchline, unless of course, the joke required it, but he would apologize quickly.
So if you’re up for it today, tell one of his stories. Call or text a friend with a joke. Repeat one of his lines (badly). Laugh harder than the situation logically calls for. Engage in some mildly unnecessary mischief in his honor. Be with your families. Listen to good music. Be kind. He’d approve.
Many of you have asked how to continue supporting Johanna, Van and Oliver. This GoFundMe will be ongoing, and was created to help provide stability and ease financial pressure as they move forward. Feel free to share the link with anyone who has asked how they can help and please make sure to read through the guidelines for how to make a donation. We also want to note that a "tip" is not mandatory.
All that to say, there is absolutely no pressure. Your love, stories, photos and presence have meant everything. This is simply one more way to take care of his family, which is exactly what he would care about most.
JD would probably make a joke here. And so, we’re laughing anyway. Thanks for your love, light and support.
