***Update 1/26/2026***

Trey and Charlie are overwhelmed beyond words by the love, generosity, and support that has poured in in honor of their dad. What began as a fundraiser with an $8,000 goal became something far greater than they ever imagined. They truly had no idea it would reach so many hearts or inspire such an extraordinary outpouring of kindness.

At the boys’ request, donations have now been disabled, as the original goal has been exceeded. They’ve always known their dad had many, many friends who loved him and will miss him deeply — but seeing the depth of this response has been both humbling and incredibly emotional. It has brought them to tears, reminding them just how many lives their dad touched and how deeply he was cherished.

They are especially grateful for the immense relief this support has brought. The financial burden connected to Jay’s unexpected hospital stay and his passing has been lifted from their shoulders, giving them the freedom to grieve, to breathe, and to begin healing without the heavy weight of those expenses.

Arrangements for funeral services and a Celebration of Life at Sandston Baptist Church are still pending. Based on the forecast, the family feels it’s best to wait until it is safe for everyone to attend. There will also be an informal Celebration of Life held at a later date, so friends and loved ones can gather to share memories, laughter, and love in Jay’s honor.

While donations will remain disabled, this page will stay active as a place to share future updates and continue honoring Jay’s memory.

From the bottom of their hearts, Trey and Charlie thank each of you for your compassion, generosity, and love. You have helped to carry them through one of the most painful seasons of their lives — and your kindness will never be forgotten.

Thank you all so very much!!
Kat

**************************

With profound sadness, we are asking for support for Jay’s beloved sons, Trey and Charlie, and his family. On January 16th, 2026, Jay suffered a sudden and severe brain bleed, leaving him in critical condition at VCU/MCV. Despite every effort, doctors determined there was no chance of recovery, and his boys faced the unimaginable decision to remove life support, giving him peace in his final moments.

Jay was the life of the party, a man who never let illness or hardship dim his joy. He cherished every day—whether fishing with his boys, catching a show with friends, enjoying a movie with his granddaughter or attending his grandson's basketball games. His positivity and love for life touched everyone around him, and his absence will be felt deeply.

Jay didn’t have a whole lot, but that never mattered when someone was in need. He would gladly give the shirt off his back if it could help a friend or family member. Several years ago, he was blessed with the gift of a donor kidney, which gave him a new lease on life. Jay was also registered as an organ donor. While he wasn’t able to donate an organ, his final gift will still help others—through the donation of skin, tissue, and bone, he will impact the lives of 40–50 people in need.

As his family navigates this painful loss, they are also burdened with significant financial challenges related to his care and end-of-life arrangements. Your generosity—whether through a donation, sharing this page, or keeping them in your prayers—will help ease this strain and allow them to celebrate Jay’s life with the dignity and love he deserves.
