On March 16th the world lost a beautiful soul. Jay Lutz was a gifted educator, beloved coach and family member to anyone who knew him. He took great pride in sharing his love of history with his students at South Cobb High School and often kept up with their progress long after they left his classroom.

In our close-knit baseball community everyone knew Coach Jay. His adoration for his New York Mets was second only to his affinity for sharing the sport he loved with all of the girls and boys he coached throughout his many years at Kennesaw Baseball. More than just a coach, he became a treasured friend and mentor to so many of us.

Outside of the classroom and baseball field, his wife Karen and sons George and Patrick were his world. He shared his passion for adventure, exploration, music, and culture with them.
