Honoring Janet: A Life of Generosity
Donation protected
Janet Proctor was a beacon of love, kindness, and selflessness. A devoted grandmother, mother, sister, and friend, she dedicated her life to giving everything she had to those around her. Her warmth and generosity touched countless lives, and her legacy of love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
My mom's life was a testament to her dedication to serving others. From her early career serving in the Army and the Navy to later as a nurse at Scripps, she brought comfort and care to those in need, always going above and beyond to ensure her patients felt seen, heard, and loved. As a real estate agent, she channeled her nurturing spirit into helping families find their dream homes, guiding them with patience, expertise, and a genuine desire to make their lives better. To also being the fun, playful grandma she ultimately loved to be. No matter the role she took on, her mission was always the same: to help everyone she could, in any way she could.
She was unfortunately diagnosed with Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA), a rare neurological condition that affects speech and language at a very early age. Despite the challenges this brought, she faced her diagnosis with remarkable courage and grace. As her condition progressed, leading to Alzheimer’s and dementia, her spirit remained unbroken. Her family and friends continued to be inspired by her strength, her love, and her enduring sense of humor.
On February 22, 2025, at the age of 70, Janet peacefully passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love and service that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She was a woman who gave everything she had—her time, her energy, her heart—to the people and causes she cared about.
Janet's will to always give unfortunately set her back in saving for herself, and she was unable to plan for the rest of her life, specifically for situations as such.
Honoring Janet’s Legacy: A Fundraiser for Research and Awareness
In honor of Janet’s life and her courageous battle with Primary Progressive Aphasia, we are also raising funds to support research and awareness for this rare condition. Janet believed deeply in the power of science and community to make a difference, and we hope to carry forward her mission by contributing to organizations dedicated to finding a cure and providing support for those affected by PPA, Alzheimer’s, and dementia.
Your donation will not only help fund critical research and provide resources for families navigating these difficult diagnoses, but also provide additional support for a celebration of life ceremony we are putting together to help honor her. Together, we can ensure that Janet’s legacy of love and generosity continues to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others.
Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to a future where no family has to face the pain of losing a loved one to these devastating illnesses.
Below is a link for more information on Janet's disease and the Association we have decided to partner with to send a portion of the proceeds generated from this platform, in honor of Janet.
Thank you for honoring Janet’s memory and supporting a cause that was deeply devastating to our family. Let us come together to celebrate her life, her courage, and her unwavering belief in the power of giving.
With gratitude,
Nick, Mayra, and her beloved grandbabies Aurora & Auzzy
