Hey everyone,
My name is Shadae Yancey, and I’m creating this fundraiser on behalf of my family as we face the sudden and unexpected passing of my brother, Jamal Raheim Short, in Richmond, VA.
Jamal was known for his humor, creativity, and natural talent. If you knew him, you know he had a gift for making people truly laugh with his timing, his storytelling, and the way he could turn any moment into something hilarious. He had a presence that drew people in and a personality that made him impossible to forget.
He was incredibly gifted with art, games, drawing, tattoos, and barbering. His creativity showed through everything he touched, and so many people still carry pieces of his work through his tattoos, sketches, his ideas, his talent. Jamal had a unique way of leaving an impression on everyone he met.
As his little sister, there are things about Jamal I will never forget. My brother always cared about how he represented himself. He stayed clean, ironing his shirts the night before school and scrubbing his Air Forces until they looked brand new. He took pride in himself, and you could see it every time he walked into a room.
He taught me how to play video games, and he never let me win, not once. He joked, talked his trash, and made everything feel like a competition. Those moments are some of my favorite memories because they were so HIM. Jamal was a naturally talented artist, gifted in a way that still leaves me in awe today. And he was so handsome… the girls loved and hated him. Growing up, people knew me as “Mal’s little sister,” because he was that popular and that unforgettable.
Our family is heartbroken by this loss, and we want to honor Jamal with the love, dignity, and respect he deserves. We are raising funds to help with:
- Funeral or memorial arrangements
- Service and transportation costs
- Allowing our family to properly celebrate his life and legacy
Any contribution, no matter the size, is deeply appreciated. Whether you donate, share the link, or leave a memory or message, your support means the world to us. If you knew Jamal, please feel free to share a story or photo. It brings comfort to our family and helps keep his light alive.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support during this time.
With gratitude,
Shadae, Pat, Jeff & Family
