Honoring Jakayla: Help with Funeral Expenses

My name is Renee Whitley. My 19-year-old granddaughter, Jakayla Goodlow Overton, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away two days ago; Monday, January 27, 2025.

She had been suffering with an abscess in her jaw that required hospitalization and several surgeries early the prior week. She was beginning to heal at home when she started having trouble breathing Sunday night. She immediately went to the ER where she rapidly declined. The infection had unknowingly spread, causing her to become septic, and previously undiagnosed pneumonia caused her lungs to fail. In less than six hours, our sweet girl gained her heavenly wings.

Jakayla was such a bright light in this world. She was only 19, but she had a heart for people and had already begun her future working in healthcare. Her goal was to work with hospice patients; she knew their struggles after losing her own mother just two years ago.

Unfortunately, she did not have any life insurance, hence setting up this account to raise enough funds for a memorial service and burial. Any money that remains after these expenses will go into a trust account for her younger sister's future.
