Our beloved son, brother, and nephew, Jager “Trey” Burgei, was taken from us far too soon in a tragic motorcycle accident on Friday, March 20th, around 1:10 PM. Everything happened in an instant, and despite every effort, he sadly succumbed to his injuries.
Trey was loved in a way that words can hardly capture. Adopted at a young age, he was later blessed to reconnect with his biological family, and through it all, he was surrounded by an overwhelming amount of love. To know Trey was to feel his light, his energy, and his genuine heart—he left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
At just 19 years old, Trey had his entire life ahead of him. He was preparing to begin a new journey, set to leave for basic training on April 28th to serve his country. He had big dreams, strong ambitions, and a future full of promise that was taken far too soon.
Our hearts are completely shattered as we try to process this unimaginable loss. While grieving, we are also faced with the unexpected financial burden of honoring Trey with the farewell he deserves.
If you find it in your heart to donate, we would be forever grateful. No amount is too small, and even simply sharing this fundraiser means more to us than words can express. Any funds remaining after funeral and burial expenses will be used to honor Trey’s memory—through a small donation to the Ottawa-Glandorf Football Team and the Flag City Phantoms semi-pro football team, both of which reflect his love for the game. The remaining funds will be thoughtfully distributed among his siblings.
Trey loved his family with his whole heart. He had a deep passion for football and found a sense of freedom and peace riding his motorcycle. And beyond all of that, he truly adored his girlfriend, Addie—she held a very special place in his heart ❤️
He will be missed beyond measure and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
