Honoring Ivan Burak’s Life and Legacy

Donation protected
It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of our beloved brother in Christ, devoted husband, loving father, and dear friend, Ivan Burak, who has been called home to be with our Lord and Savior.
Ivan was born to Fedor and Hanna Burak in the Lviv Oblast of Ukraine. He was the youngest of two sons and shared a close bond with his older brother, Michael (Misha), who was six years his senior. Their relationship was marked by love, loyalty, and lifelong friendship.
In 1985, Ivan met the love of his life, Danna. They were married on September 13, 1987, and soon after were blessed with a son, Oleg, who brought great joy to their lives. In 1993, like many others seeking new opportunities, Ivan and his family relocated to Portland, Oregon, where they built a life rooted in faith, hard work, and service to others.
Ivan was a skilled and generous man, known for his ability to build and fix nearly anything. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Early in his life in America, he worked at a bakery before transitioning into a career as a semi-truck driver. He took great joy in traveling the country and witnessing the beauty of the states God created.
On the evening of January 4, 2026, Ivan was on his way home from a work trip when he was tragically involved in a collision in Oklahoma. Both semi-trucks caught fire, and despite all efforts, neither driver could be rescued.
We are devastated by this sudden and heartbreaking loss. Ivan’s passing leaves a void that can never be fully healed. Yet, we hold firmly to God’s promise found in Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Ivan will be deeply missed for his warm smile, quick wit, easygoing nature, and the lasting impact he made on every life he touched. He had a gentle spirit, always greeted others with love, and saw the good in everyone he met. His legacy of faith, kindness, and selfless service will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
For those who feel led to help, any support toward funeral expenses would be sincerely appreciated. Ivan was the primary provider for his family, and all funds will go directly to support his wife, Danna, during this difficult time. Above all, we ask that you keep Danna, Oleg, and the entire family in your prayers as they walk through this profound loss and adjust to their new reality.

We will provide updates regarding all upcoming memorial and burial services as details become available.
