My name is Julleah Marie Contreras, and I write this as the granddaughter of my beloved grandmother, Julia Maria Martinez-Romero, whom we lovingly called Ita. With heavy hearts, our family mourns her passing. Ita was a second mother to me — a fierce protector and a woman of strength, faith, and quiet devotion.

She showed her love through action — always checking in, always caring, always making sure her family was okay. She healed with her presence, her remedies, her homemade soups, and her gentle reassurance: “Everything will be okay.” Though not overly affectionate, when she hugged, she held tight — offering comfort, peace, and safety.

Ita was witty, strong-willed, and full of character. She had a sharp sense of humor and a heart devoted entirely to her family. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and loved them unconditionally.

We hold onto our faith and God’s promise of eternal life, believing that Ita is now resting in the presence of the Lord, reunited with loved ones who went before her. While her absence is deeply felt, we find comfort in knowing we will see her again.
