In Loving Memory of Iris Lisa France
Iris Lisa France, beloved daughter of U.S. Army Veteran SSgt. James B. France and Lucila B. France, was born on September 30, 1958, in San Pedro, California. Over the course of her life, she made her home in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area, while also living in Hawaii, Nevada, the Philippines, and Germany places that reflected her deep love for travel and adventure.
Iris lived a full and independent life, remaining single while building meaningful connections with those around her. She was a cherished sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and dear friend to many. As a business owner, she found joy in buying and selling treasured goods, always appreciating the stories behind the items she handled.
She had a compassionate heart, especially for animals, and a creative spirit that she expressed through poetry when inspiration struck. Iris loved music and could often be found singing along to her favorite songs. She had a warm sense of humor and took great pleasure in making others smile and laugh.
Above all, Iris loved God and held her family and relatives around the world close to her heart.
In her final days, Iris faced lung cancer with strength and grace. She passed on peacefully in her sleep on April 24, 2026.
She is lovingly remembered by her older brother, Alexander B. France and his wife, Frances, and their family; her older sister, Rose Cowperthwaite and her husband, Dave, and their family; and her sister, Lorraine Grace France-Gorn and her husband, Rick, and their family. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended relatives who will carry her memory forward.
Iris is also deeply missed by her lifelong best friends, Toto “Honey” of the Philippines and Clay Fong of the Bay Area.
Though she is no longer with us, we find comfort in knowing that God has welcomed her home. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
In Loving Support
At this time, our family is asking for support to help cover the cost of Iris’s funeral services, which total approximately $20,000. Any contribution, no matter the amount, would mean so much to our family during this difficult time.
We are deeply grateful for your love, prayers, and support.
