Honoring Iris Hope
Iris Hope is the 16-month-old daughter of Casey and Amanda LaValle, and she has spent her short life courageously battling Leigh Syndrome, a rare mitochondrial genetic mutation. Much of Iris’s life has been spent at Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, where her family has fought beside her every step of the way. Casey has devoted himself fully to Iris’s care, researching every possible treatment and even traveling to Florida to connect with others and search for hope. Amanda has continued working part-time as a speech therapist while also advocating for Iris and caring for their other children, Owen and Eliana. After a long and heartbreaking journey, Iris passed away on 8/10/26.
This fundraiser is being created to help ease the heavy burden facing the LaValle family in the days ahead. Donations will help cover funeral, burial or cremation, and memorial expenses, along with household bills and daily living costs while the family takes time away from work to grieve. Support will also help cover any remaining medical or end-of-life expenses.
Everyone who has followed Iris’s journey are deeply grateful for the love already shown to this family. Please consider supporting Casey, Amanda, Owen, and Eliana in Iris Hope’s honor, and lift them up with your prayers, love, and kindness during this unimaginable loss.
