Rueben Martinez Avila passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of April 3rd.

In the wake of his passing, I am establishing a GoFundMe campaign to assist his youngest son, Rueben Jr., in covering the expenses associated with his father’s funeral. My intention is to foster a collective effort to alleviate the financial burden of funeral costs, enabling the family to concentrate on their grief without financial concerns.

During my own experience of losing my father, I vividly recall the financial strain we faced, particularly the burden of rent. My mother, the sole breadwinner at the time, received assistance from Rueben, who generously covered our rent for several months until we regained our footing.

Inspired by this personal experience, I am hopeful that we can collectively contribute to this cause. While monetary donations are greatly appreciated, I encourage those who are unable to contribute to share a memory of Rueben, affectionately known also as Hopper.
