My name is Denise, and I am raising funds in memory of my beloved grandmother, Hope Ulibarri. Hope was not only the matriarch of our family, but also my best friend since I was 14. She lived an extraordinary life, overcoming heart disease and unimaginable personal loss, including the passing of all three of her children and two grandchildren. Despite these hardships, Hope remained a beacon of strength, humor, and compassion. She was a former beauty queen, a talented ballroom dancer, and one of the first women managers in Denver Social Services, dedicating her career to helping those who were often forgotten. In her later years, she managed care for patients dying of HIV, many of whom had nowhere else to turn for support, and she made sure they were treated with dignity and kindness. Her wit and warmth touched everyone she met, and I feel incredibly lucky to have had her in my life for so many years.
Hope passed away at the age of 94, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and love. Unfortunately, she did not have the funds to cover her medical bills, and her savings were used for major home repairs in her final years. As the executor of her will, I am now faced with the task of settling her outstanding medical expenses and preparing her home for sale. This includes paying for utilities, new flooring, and bathroom remodels, as well as clearing out 50 years of her belongings. In lieu of funeral flowers, I am asking for support to help cover these expenses and honor Grandma Hope’s legacy. Any contribution, no matter the size, would mean so much to our family and help us give her the dignified farewell she deserves.
