My name is Martha Cordero. My husband of 40 years, Hernan (Chile) Cordero, unexpectedly and tragically passed away on January 5th, 2026, from an Aortic Rupture. After a normal, uneventful day, he started complaining of lower back pain that evening. Around 7 pm, he said the pain had moved from his back to his left lower abdomen and groin area. By 9 pm, he was in excruciating pain and asked our son to call 911. He then collapsed onto the floor in writhing pain with rapidly increasing shortness of breath. Our son attempted to keep him calm and comfort him while waiting for help to arrive. Within 5 minutes, his breath became more shallow, labored, and harder for him to speak. He was scared, but our son kept him calm. Then suddenly, he managed to mutter the words, "I'm dying now." His face got pale, his eyes glossed over, and his body became limp. He was not responsive and not breathing. Our son began chest compressions and rescue breathing. Finally, the paramedics arrived and began working on him for over 45 minutes to no avail. Sadly, Hernan was pronounced at 10:25 pm. It has been so surreal and happened so suddenly it is almost unbelievable. In a moment, my family's and my life changed so drastically.
Hernan (Chile) lived, loved, and worked hard. He was helpful, kind, and serviceable to everyone. He was a great man with charisma and many talents. As a partner/husband, he was loving and compassionate. As a father, he could be harsh, but he loved deeply and unconditionally. He was a father to three biological children but a dad to many, many others. He was a mentor to many young men in his profession of plastering. He was a talented artist in many mediums, a gifted singer, a creative thinker, and simply ingenious. He had the heart of a lion, the spirit of an eagle, and the strength and nobility of a horse. If you have taken the time to read this far, you know there was no one else like Hernan (Chile) Cordero. His 63 years on this earth were filled with trials, tribulations, and tragedies, yet he ALWAYS managed to rise above and succeed. He was not just a survivor but a conqueror. We feel that it is only befitting to celebrate his life and honor his memory with a gathering of his family, friends, and acquaintances whose lives he touched and left an indelible mark on. We are requesting donations in lieu of flowers and to help offset the cost of making this a well-deserved and memorable event. Thank you all so much.
