Honoring Hagos (Happy): A Journey Home to Ethiopia

On September 18, 2024 our beloved father Hagos (Happy) Alemayehu passed away after a brief battle with cancer. Hagos was a fixture in the Takoma Park and Ethiopian community. He had many accomplishments in life, many of which people did not know. One unknown fact is that he represented Ethiopia in boxing in the 1972 Olympics.

Hagos was born and raised in Ethiopia. One of his last dying wishes was to be buried in the cemetery on the grounds of his childhood church in Ethiopia. We are asking for donations to help grant Hagos one of his final wishes and send his body back to Ethiopia for burial in his hometown. We thank you in advance for your donations.
