Honoring Auntie Gwynn with a legacy of giving back

We have an opportunity to preserve Auntie Gwynn's memory in a meaningful manner by supporting other unsung heroes when they need it most.

We lost a cherished soul with the recent passing of Gwynette Harley. You may also know her as Auntie Gwynn, beloved aunt of Terrence Cummings, and a mentor, surrogate mom, and evangelist for others.

We know many of you have reached out on the best way to to honor her remarkable legacy — as a beloved caregiver, trailblazer in the recording industry, and lifelong catalyst for unlocking people’s untapped potential.

We are finalizing details, but your donation will be used in a meaningful and enduring way, and put toward causes that Gwynn valued so deeply. These include things like removing barriers to advancement, nurturing creativity and sparking joy, taking care of people, and protecting and supporting caregivers.

We will leave the ultimate decision on where to donate funds in Terrence’s hands, as he knew his Aunt the best. As a donor, you will receive updates on how the funds are used and can give with the knowledge that your contribution will be put toward something meaningful. We will use this money to honor the unsung heroes in our communities.

After a successful and barrier smashing career in the recording industry — including working with Lionel Richie — Auntie Gwynn pivoted her life and her career to take care of family members and serve as a professional caregiver to the elderly.

Auntie Gwynn helped raise Terrence in northern New Jersey, giving him a platform from which we’ve all had the opportunity to get to know him and his light — a light he credits in large part to her.

Auntie Gwynn’s legacy is one of selflessness, focusing on the right priorities, and lifting up others around you. (This author is also a beneficiary of Auntie Gwynn’s legacy — one member of a loose constellation of children she supported during dark and tough times, showing them love, giving them a safe place to hang out, a hug, and, often, all the Hawaiian Punch from her pantry.)
