It is with heavy hearts that we share that our beloved father, Greg Hankerd, suffered multiple strokes and a sepsis infection this week. He is now in his final days, surrounded by the love of his children—Nick, Keri, and Erika.
Greg was no angel—and he wouldn't want us to pretend he was. He was rowdy, unpredictable, and fiercely independent, living life entirely on his own terms. With Metallica and Guns N' Roses blasting in the background, Greg was a troublemaker in the best way possible. But beneath that rough exterior was a man who would fight tooth and nail for his friends and family. If you were lucky enough to be in his circle, you had a protector and a loyal friend for life.
Greg had a gift for making people laugh. His sarcastic wit and humor could light up any room, and he used that gift generously throughout his life. For years, he coached baseball teams, shaping young athletes not just in the game but in character. He also devoted himself to teaching construction to high school students, passing on valuable skills and life lessons that will stay with them forever.
Despite facing his own health challenges in recent years, Greg never stopped being the fun-loving grandfather his seven grandchildren—Jacob, Blake, Isaiah, Ash, Maximus, Gianna, and Malachi—adored. He brought them joy, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
If Greg touched your life with his humor, his loyalty, or his wild spirit, we ask you to consider honoring his memory with a donation of any size. Your support will help our family lay him to rest with the dignity and love he deserves.
Thank you for keeping Greg and our family in your thoughts during this difficult time. A celebration of Life will be held in the coming weeks, please reach out to Nick, Erika or Keri if you plan to come.
Thank you
