Honoring Great-Grandmother Rose

“He atua, he tangata. We are both beautifully divine and beautifully human.”
A reminder from Great Grandma Rose
Note to all: We know that Rose never asked for any money, but GoFundMe requires us to put a number to be able to post something, the rest of the letter is just for us. There are many ways to Koha. Send good thoughts to the family. Say a prayer in concert with your tradition. Light a candle. Sing Rose’s favorite songs. Send love.
Dear Whanau – family and friends,
Over many years we have come, in groups, from America and from other places in the world, to visit Great Grandma Rose at her home near Lake Waikaremoana. Because of the pandemic we cannot visit her tangi (a time of remembrance, grief, song and laughter). Therefore we are opening this go-fund-me to honor her life, and to offer respect and caring. This will be up for a month as a time of outpouring of our love.
We understand that the family, now, is in deep ceremony, which is also true for those of us who have been shedding a tear, since the news of Rose’s passing. Koha is gifting. Many want to offer their love and condolences, so this is a doorway to gifting, to help with the family and the wider family in the celebration, over the next days, of her extraordinary life.
This beautiful lady that held so much love for the world brought us all together. We all shared our energies, we all knew we met in the cosmos prior to being birthed in this world, and we all remember that we are part of the One Great Family - ngatira.
Our dear sister, we will carry you forever in our hearts until we meet again. You will be missed here in this world. We want to thank you for sharing such boundless love of our world family.
Condolences to Rose’s family. If it were possible, we know all the Grandmothers, and so many of the people Rose touched, would be there with you now.
Love,
Your Heart Family
