Hi, I'm Steve. I'm the oldest of four children of the late great Gloria Stephanie Olivares. For myself, my father, my brother, my sisters, and her grandchildren, it's been a painful and sad loss. My mom passed away after an almost 22-year battle with thyroid cancer. My mom fought her cancer with bravery and tenacity that was inspirational. Sadly, she didn't win, but at least she isn't suffering anymore.

My mom was my hero. She came to this country from El Salvador in 1973. She met my dad around the same time and would go on to marry. My mom stopped working when I was a baby because I had an accident with the babysitter.I had fractured my skull. I obviously made it and am writing to you. However, my mom decided to stop working and dedicate herself to taking care of her kids. She made it her life's work to make sure her kids were loved and taken care of. She was a mom, of course, but also a friend to her kids. We liked to go eat out, see movies, and listen to music (50's to 80's mostly). She was even into some metal bands, and we saw some shows together. To sum up, my mom was pure love. She touched everyone that she encountered, and they loved her back.

I'm here on this platform in order to ask for help to pay for cremation costs and to give my mom the celebration of life that she deserves and has earned by a lifetime that she gave to her family, her friends, and to the lives that she touched along the way. It is a huge financial burden to do this, but it is necessary. Travel expenses, especially to Las Vegas during the summer in this economy is brutal. Any amount that you give, whether big or small, would be appreciated. I will thank anyone who donates.
