I am setting up this GoFundMe to help my aunt, Beatriz, and my cousins as they navigate the loss of my uncle, Gerardo Garcia.

Words cannot describe what an exceptional human being Gerardo was — the true definition of a hardworking, dedicated father and husband. He did everything he could to provide the absolute best for his children. No matter how tired he was, Gerardo was never too exhausted to cook dinner or breakfast, attend school events, work on repairs to their mobile home, or care for his roosters.

Tragically, Gerardo went to work one day and did not make it home to his family. Saying my aunt and cousins are devastated is an understatement. In an effort to help them cope with the loss of their provider, I wanted to take the initiative to ask for your support.

Life and financial obligations continue even after a loved one is gone. If it’s within your means, please consider making a donation — nothing is too little. My aunt has been out of the workforce while raising their five children, and my uncle truly was their foundation. They are humble, hardworking people who have always helped others with whatever little they had.

All proceeds will go directly to my aunt and cousins to help them manage expenses as my aunt faces the many costs that have arisen since Gerardo’s passing.

No hay palabras para describir lo excepcional ser humano que fue Gerardo — la verdadera definición de un padre y esposo trabajador y dedicado. Hizo todo lo posible por brindarles lo mejor a sus hij@s. Sin importar lo cansado que estuviera, nunca estaba demasiado agotado para cocinar, asistir a eventos escolares, arreglar su casa móvil o cuidar de sus gallos.

Trágicamente, un día Gerardo salió a trabajar y no regresó a casa con su familia. Decir que mi tía y mis primos están devastados es quedarse corto. Con el fin de apoyarlos en este momento tan difícil tras perder a quien era su sustento, quiero pedirles de corazón su ayuda.

La vida y las responsabilidades económicas continúan aun después de la pérdida de un ser querido. Si está dentro de sus posibilidades, por favor consideren hacer una donación — no importa la cantidad, todo ayuda. Mi tía ha estado fuera del trabajo mientras criaba a sus cinco hij@s, y mi tío era verdaderamente el pilar de la familia.
